RBEProject solutions

Built around the project, not the machine.

Six kinds of project RBE supports across Kumaon. For each: the tasks a backhoe loader takes on, what the terrain changes, and where you need something bigger. Every rental comes with an operator and runs for 15 days or more.

01

Road construction, widening & highway work

PWD, PMGSY, state-highway, NH and NHIDCL package contractors

Side drains, shoulders, cut edges, culvert pits and debris clearance — the work that runs alongside every kilometre of road.

3D illustration of a backhoe loader cutting a roadside drain along a widened hill road, with traffic cones and a tipper truck on the road.

Typical backhoe loader tasks

  • Side-drain and catch-water drain excavation
  • Widening the cut edge and trimming shoulders
  • Excavation for culverts, scuppers and breast/retaining walls
  • Loading tippers and clearing slips and debris
  • Sub-grade preparation and back-filling behind walls

Site realities in Kumaon

Hill roads give you one lane of working space, live traffic and long distances between work fronts. A wheeled machine that drives itself between fronts and both loads and digs keeps a small crew productive without waiting on a second machine. Road packages also run for months, which is what a 15-day-minimum, operator-included rental is built for.

Where it stops

Large-volume formation cutting and high rock faces are tracked-excavator work. On those packages the backhoe loader is the support machine — drains, loading, clearing, with RBE’s rock breaker for rock in drains and edges — not the main cutter.

Padampuri — road widening

Road widening in the Nainital hills — work spread along the road, where one wheeled machine that cuts, loads and moves itself to the next stretch keeps the job going.

Hill cutting & slope work

Hill-cutting, site-development and road contractors working on slopes

Controlled cutting and benching in soil and weathered rock, done to the design — not wherever the bucket reaches.

3D illustration of a backhoe loader on a bench cut into a hillside, pulling down the cut face during hill-cutting work while spoil builds at the toe.

Typical backhoe loader tasks

  • Benching and terracing slopes for building platforms
  • Cutting back road edges for widening
  • Excavating for retaining-wall and breast-wall foundations
  • Clearing and reshaping slips after rain
  • Cutting and maintaining drains on each bench

Site realities in Kumaon

Kumaon slopes are often loose debris over weathered rock. The order of work — drain, cut, retain — matters more than raw digging power, and cutting right before the monsoon without retaining or drainage in place is how slopes fail.

Where it stops

A backhoe loader works best on controlled cuts of moderate height, and on the drainage, foundation and clean-up work around them. RBE’s hydraulic rock breaker handles rock that turns up in that work. Large rock faces and high cuts need a tracked excavator.

03

Real-estate & site development

Real-estate developers, builders and their civil contractors

From first access road to foundations: clearing, levelling, footings, drainage and back-fill on residential, resort and commercial projects.

Typical backhoe loader tasks

  • Site clearing and making the first access track
  • Cutting and levelling building platforms
  • Footing, raft and column-pit excavation
  • Drainage, septic, water-tank and service trenches
  • Back-filling, grading and moving material within the site

Site realities in Kumaon

Hill plots are narrow and stepped, with little room to park or turn. A backhoe loader can work from the access road, turn within its own length and handle most of the earthwork a typical building plot needs. In the plains, the same machine moves quickly across larger plotted developments.

Where it stops

For very large cut-and-fill volumes on township-scale sites, an excavator and tippers should carry the bulk work; the backhoe loader handles footings, services and finishing.

Ranikhet–Majkhali — resort development

Resort development in the hills between Ranikhet and Majkhali — sloping ground where a building platform has to be cut and levelled before anything else can start.

Dam, bridge & river-protection works

Bridge, irrigation, flood-protection and hydro contractors

Abutment and wing-wall excavation, approach fills, and the material handling that keeps a river-side site moving.

3D illustration of a backhoe loader digging a bridge abutment pit on a riverbank beside gabion walls.

Typical backhoe loader tasks

  • Excavation for abutments, wing walls and small-bridge foundations
  • Approach-road formation and back-fill
  • Material handling for gabions and river-training works
  • Diversion channels and site drainage
  • Clearing debris after high water

Site realities in Kumaon

River-side sites in Kumaon are seasonal: work windows close with the monsoon, and access often comes down a steep track to the riverbed. Mobilisation timing and a safe place for the machine above flood level need planning early.

Where it stops

Deep foundation work, cofferdams and large-volume river-bed excavation need bigger equipment. RBE rents backhoe loaders only — send the scope and you will get a straight answer on where one fits.

05

Excavation, trenching & utilities

Water-supply, sewerage, power and telecom contractors

Pipeline, cable and drainage trenches dug to line and depth, with the spoil loaded or back-filled by the same machine.

3D illustration of a backhoe loader digging a utility pipeline trench along a town road between barricades, with pipes laid out on the verge.

Typical backhoe loader tasks

  • Water-supply and sewer pipeline trenches
  • Cable trenches for power and telecom
  • Storm-water and roadside drainage
  • Pit excavation for chambers, tanks and manholes
  • Back-filling and reinstating after laying

Site realities in Kumaon

Utility work moves along a road every day. A machine that drives itself to the next stretch, digs, and back-fills with the front bucket is exactly what linear utility work needs — especially where traffic and space are tight.

Where it stops

Rock along the trench line slows any backhoe — tell us where you expect it so RBE’s rock breaker is planned in. Very deep trenches need shoring and may need an excavator with more reach.

06

Industrial & institutional infrastructure

EPC contractors, industrial developers, institutional projects

Factories, warehouses, campuses and public buildings: levelling, foundations, internal roads and services across the Terai belt and the hills.

3D illustration of a backhoe loader levelling ground on an industrial plot while a steel portal-frame shed is erected.

Typical backhoe loader tasks

  • Grading and levelling for sheds, yards and hardstands
  • Foundation and plinth-beam excavation
  • Internal roads, kerbs and drains
  • Service trenches between buildings
  • Loading and site housekeeping through the build

Site realities in Kumaon

Industrial estates around Rudrapur, Pantnagar and Kashipur are flat and accessible, so the priority is reliability over a long build programme. Institutional projects in the hills combine that long programme with tight, sloping sites.

Where it stops

Large-area mass grading is faster with dozers, graders and excavators. A backhoe loader is the flexible machine that stays on site for foundations, services and everything in between.
